Welcome to the least of our problems blog!

We wanted to start off by telling you a little bit about us... so let the story begin.

Once upon a time, in a far off land filled with the baby boomers, the Karens and the boring middle class, two twenty somethings decided that they had had enough of the pressures of modern society and created a podcast... could there be others out there who felt the same? Did they need their help? They met on a wet, windy miserable day (I mean I can’t remember if it was any of the above but it adds atmosphere) working in a coffee shop. Lily was a full-time barista making just enough money to survive. She would occasionally remember to give a cheery hello to every one in four customers. Kate was working there alongside her 9-5 to try and pay off some debt. The debt is alive and well (don’t worry, this isn’t one of those stories with cliche happy endings)

Both hid how unhappy they were just as much as the other until they realised it wasn’t just them feeling like life might have no meaning whatsoever. On a particularly rough day when it seemed like everyone was either getting promoted, having a baby, buying a house or going travelling they decided that there must be more people like them in the world. And so, the least of our problems was born. Well a version of it was created that failed, but that’s a story for another time. Complete novices to the world of podcasting they started the journey and like every good journey there were some bumps along the way. So what makes these two people qualified to share their thoughts with the world?

Well nothing, but they are trying anyway! They booked a podcast studio, wrote some ideas down on paper and let the dream unfold.

So, who is Lily? Do we like her? Is she cool yet aloof? She doesn’t think so. She is a girl who has completed a plethora of courses, none of which she has used to make any money. She can however do your nails whilst providing a counselling service all the while pouring the perfect flat white for you to enjoy. Shockingly, she has not quite found her dream job leaving her feeling defeated and lost.

Kate is a stressed out mess who tried her hardest to fit into the world of work and failed epically in the form of tears, tantrums & burn out. Feeling lost and unsure of where to go having given up her years worth of work within the mental health sector she turned to dogs. (Walking them, not for advice.) Starting from square one again Kate also feels left behind, being at the bottom of her bank balance, no savings in sight. Teetering on the edge of thirty, both are exploring what it really means to be an adult and how for some reason everyone seems to be ahead of them. Discussing everything from money worries, to anxious thoughts about relationships, to the fear of ageing. These two are trying to find others who also feel a little lost in the world. Hoping to find other people that think starting a nuclear family and buying a house is really the least of their problems.

With an opinion on almost everything the girls are here each week chatting about things that have troubled them in their adult years. They hope they can bring some comfort to those who feel like they haven’t achieved what they should have by now.
